Key NCS Takeaways April 2018 


  • Dyas has entered the NCS by farming into 13.3% from Faroe in PL433 Fogelberg discovery

  • Chrysaor has entered the NCS by farming into 15% from Okea in PL038D Grevling discovery

  • DNO has through several steps acquired 27.4% of the shares in Faroe Petroleum


  • OMV made a gas/condensate discovery of mid-range 142 mmboe in PL644 Iris/Hades prospects located close to Åsgard

  • Wintershall made a discovery of mid-range 94 mmboe in PL894 Balderbrå discovery located 115 km SW of Aasta Hansteen field

  • Spirit Energy is appraising PL433 Fogelberg located 18 km north of Åsgard and proved better reservoir quality and deeper GWC, but no new volumes yet announced

Field Developments

  • Government have recommended for the parliament to approve Statoil Johan Castberg PDO in Barents Sea. Resources estimated to 558 mmboe and investments 47.2 billion NOK

  • AkerBP Valhall Vest flank PDO approved. Will be developed as unmanned Wellhead Platform tied back to Valhall. Resources are estimated to 60 mmboe and investments 5.5 billion NOK

  • AkerBP Skogul PDO approved. Will be developed as a subsea tieback to Alvheim FPSO. Resources estimated to 10 mmboe and investments of 1.5 billion NOK

  • AkerBP Ærfugl PDO approved. Ærfugl is a subsea tieback to Skarv with resources of 274 mmboe and investments of 8.5 billion NOK

  • Repsol Yme redevelopment approved. Will be developed using Maersk Inspirer. Resources at 65 mmboe and investments 8.3 billion NOK

  • Following the successful appraisal boosting resources to 40-100 MMboe, Lundin plans to develop Luno II as a tie back to Edvard Grieg with 2 producers and 2 water injectors at investments of 4 billion NOK
