Rystad Energy expects total output from the Eagle Ford shale play to reach 3.9 million barrels of oil equivalents per day by 2020. Crude and condensate production is assumed at 2.2 million bbl/d; gas and NGL output at 1.7 kboe/d.
“The growth is associated with high prospectivity especially in the Eastern areas of the play, more intensive well stimulation technologies, improved well performance and increased number of drilling locations per lease. We estimate ~27 billion boe of economically viable recoverable resources from currently awarded acreage,” says Per Magnus Nysveen, Head of Analysis at Rystad Energy.
Only the Marcellus Shale is estimated to produce more barrels of oil equivalents per day at a projected 3.8 million boe/d in 2020. The oil and gas knowledge house also sees strong growth for the Permian Basin at 3 million boe/d by 2020.
