Fertilizers are key in feeding and sustaining a growing global population. Approximately 50% of the food consumed on the planet comes from fertilizers. With ammonia being the feedstock in making nitrogen fertilizer and 70% of ammonia currently being produced using natural gas, there is a strong connection between the supply and pricing of energy and the cost of food. There is also further scope for reducing emissions from fertilizer production.

We were honored to host the CEO of YARA, Svein Tore Holsether, as a special guest for this webinar.  Mr. Holsether discussed food production in the energy transition context with Rystad Energy Deputy CEO Lars Eirik Nicolaisen.
