Rystad Talks Energy | Powering the AI era: Data centers, energy markets and infrastructure risks
When
9:00 am - 5:00 pm CET
Information
The rapid expansion of data centers is emerging as a new frontier for energy demand, reshaping power markets worldwide. In this edition of Rystad Talks Energy, we explore how AI-driven growth in digital infrastructure is reshaping power systems, infrastructure investment, and the energy value chain, and what this means for markets over the next decade.

Description
Data centers are transforming power demand in key regions, particularly in the US, where we observe a step change in growth. A move from 0.5% to 2% annual growth in power demand would, all else equal, imply a 4x call on new generation, placing unprecedented strain on grids, supply chains, and permitting timelines. As development accelerates, critical questions emerge about where growth occurs and what dictates placement, from training versus inference workloads to traditional enterprise and crypto demand.
During the webinar, our experts will also explore how data center developers are securing reliable power to meet this new wave of demand, with a particular focus on behind-the-meter solutions using gas turbines, as well as the opportunity space for geothermal energy to power the data center build-out. The session will also address tightening equipment markets, assessing how shortages across critical components are extending lead times, influencing project timelines, and creating knock-on impacts for other industries.
Join us to understand how data centers are redefining energy markets, infrastructure risk, and investment priorities in the AI era.
