Martin Opdal joined Rystad Energy in 2014 and leads the firm’s East Asia consulting practice. Prior to this, Martin was a partner in Rystad Energy’s Singapore office, responsible for project execution and business development across the APAC region. Martin’s project expertise covers market assessments, transaction support and business development projects across a wide range of sectors.
Having worked in multiple regions, Martin has gained a deep understanding of the challenges faced by multinational companies in today’s globalized world. He is deeply committed to using this experience to provide actionable advise to his clients, which include energy majors, investors, governments and NGOs, among others.
Martin is a regular speaker at conferences across Asia and Europe, covering topics such as natural gas and LNG, energy security and the energy transition. Since 2020 he has led Rystad Energy’s work on several International Gas Union (IGU) publications, including the World LNG Report and the Global Gas Report. Outside of work, he enjoys playing golf, tennis and cross-country skiing.
Martin holds an MSc in Industrial Economics and Technology Management from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) with a specialization in Empirical Finance.
